The WTM concept has been described as powerful and revolutionary — television that addresses the interests of cosmopolitans; that is, world citizens sharing a common Canadian cultural reality and curious about other peoples in Canada and abroad. These are the viewers who will travel the neighbourhoods of the global community along WTM's electronic bridge finding different perspectives, interests, histories, cultures and entertainment.

Canadian viewers of WTM will watch local documentaries from Spain, the Caribbean, Norway, Singapore, Eygpt. They will learn how India or Sweden report on the situation in the Balkans; enjoy comedy from Greece, Hong Kong, Austria, and Argentina; view films from around the globe, many of which will have never been seen on North American TV. Monday through Friday viewers will watch WTM's News Journals from a different global region each evening — as seen directly by the original audience.

WTM will therefore provide a program format that is uniquely Canadian as it finds its roots in our acceptance of and commitment to respecting differences in culture and perspectives at home and around the globe.
