Modern Icons - As Canada becomes more demographically diverse the persons who attain identifiable status positions within our society reflect that change. Icons will profile such persons allowing them to describe the trials and challenges they have faced, their successes and how they understand their positions as Icons.

Day and Night -
Day and Night goes inside Canadian institutions and events to show the viewer first hand how things work and how decisions are made. The story of 24 hours in the life of a decision or an event that affects a community.

Intercom -
A national platform for diverse national cultural community associations and multicultural organizations. Canadian communities to deal with the specific issues and ideas from their community.

Eye on Canada -
Documentaries from independent producers all across Canada that stress culture, values, the struggles for a place in Canada, the interactions between Canadians, and the struggles that occur.

Mainstreets -
Each week Mainstreets will focus on the colourful history and the diverse people who make a Canadian main street what it is today. A colourful look behind the facades at the history and the cultures that have created the places where Canadians work and live.

Rabble -
Roving cameras and engaging hosts offer an irreverent and punchy view of Canadian life in the gathering places of the nation.

Cabaret will utilize interactive features linking Canadian performers and venues with others around the world creating a truly global cafe. A "global bistro", "improvisation workshops", "global jams" — an eclectic experimental, sometimes off-beat, mix of global entertainment.

Original Voices will focus on "first peoples" both within Canada and around the world. Cultures and traditions, struggles and victories will be the material of this program.

World Regional Journals will deal with a different region of the world Monday through Friday. This structure will allow a greater concentration of each region and will enable viewers to see the world's events and concerns through the eyes of TV cameras throughout the globe. The variety of perspectives will be placed in a Canadian context in the preceeding program "Canada and the World".

World of Cinema and Marquee will profile award winning films from Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Beijing, Prague, Nairobi and the widest possible variety of other cities. Most of these historical and contemporary films have never been seen on North American TV before, and they will be selected for their entertainment value and their cultural significance. Throughout the season, themes will be chosen to enable the viewer to fully explore the variety of film production from around the globe.

Cabaret / World Beat will explore the root sounds of music with Gregorian chants, Japanese drums, Celtic pipes, steel drums and many other instruments and rhthyms. Their influences on one another are producing the new musical forms of the new media and the new century.

World Drama will feature the very best of popular programming. Political, legal, family, romantic, rural , and urban dramas - from Tokyo, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Rome, Lima and many other parts of the world.

World's Eye will feature documentaries from Germany, Cameroon, Brazil, Cuba, Korea, Norway and other world regions.

World Comedy and Variety will enable the Canadian viewer to experience entertainment such as dance, circus acts, and satires from around the world.
